Cooperation among SMEs

The theme of this working Group is SME Co-operation. It explores how public agencies and private sector businesses work together to develop and deliver business support programmes to help businesses aged 3-5 years survive beyond their formative stages into strong and healthy businesses. The working group examines examples of best practice from across Europe and through presentations and group discussion looks at how the experiences can be practically transferred to benefit other partner regions.

Oldham Council is hosting a thematic seminar on 19-20th July 2012 which focuses on SME Co-operation. The seminar will look at the way in which we have worked with the private sector in Oldham and partners in Greater Manchester to encourage business growth and survival. The seminar will provide an overview of the governance structure that we have in Greater Manchester and how this has been used to stimulate business growth in Oldham. It will also explore the key role that the private sector plays in developing and implementing key policies and programmes through groups such as the Oldham Business Leadership Group and the Oldham Construction Network.
